Reunion 2009 Awards

Citation Awards 2009

Each year at Reunion, the Alumnae Association presents the Citation Award to:  an alumna who celebrates a reunion this year and who, through service to the College community or church, or through achievement in her vocation has gained distinction and public recognition; or to a former faculty member or administrator of the College who, through dedication and character, has inspired others to similar achievement.

At Reunion 2008 we were proud to honor Sister Lalonde Ryan OSF '63, an alumna and former faculty member, who has brought honor to herself, her alma mater, and her profession through her work in teaching music for 18 years at the College of Saint Teresa.  Besides her teaching experience, Sister Lalonde has served as campus liturgist, hospital chaplain and an advocate for women in domestic violence. She is a witness of hope in our midst, despite her health issues. The loving spirit of God is felt by all who meet her.

At Reunion 2008 we were also proud to honor Cozetta Murray Rohan '38, who has brought honor to herself, her alma mater, and her parish community. All her life Cozetta has been involved in her parish and held various offices, as well as taught CCD. At age 92 she was named "Woman of the Year 2007" for the Rural Northwest Deanery. Mother to 11, her daughters summed it up best: "Our mother is a true example of her faith. Sacrificing many things so all of us could have a Catholic education. It was through her that we learned our faith, service to our communities and our parish."

Worthy Cause

At each year's Reunion Liturgy, alumnae support a group / organization / non-profit by their contributions to the offertory collection.

2008's Worthy Cause was the Assisi Heights Spirituality Center  (AHSC).   The mission of the Center is to provide spiritual and educational resources, programs and retreats to the Franciscan community and all in the Rochester area.  The Franciscan Sisters wish to continue to share a sense of the spirituality you gained while attending the College of Saint Teresa. As an example of their gratitude, your intentions will be included in the prayers of the Sisters of Saint Francis.

You can visit the Franciscans at http://www.rochesterfranciscan.org for more information on the Assisi Heights Spirituality Center and any programs or retreats offered. Pre-registration is required for all AHSC events!
